The Princess is in...

My sincere apologies for neglecting you, my fans, for the past few days. I've been lazy and sleepy...

I have this problem. I'm a little possessive. Not just about things like books, but also about my peeps, and my rituals.

Sleeping is one of my favourite rituals. Of course, that's almost a given, given that is what we cats are known for...

During the day, when the Peeps are home, I have dibs on Mr. Peeps. (Mrs. Peeps is usually running around which is quite inconsiderate as it does disturb my sleep...) I like to help him with his computer work and nap on him when the urge comes upon me. Mr. Peeps is usually stationary for fairly extended periods of time, so he has been designated my daytime peep.

Mrs. Peeps is my nighttime peep, and we have a little ritual. At night when we go to bed, I must ascend in a particular manner. Any deviation to this approach will cause the whole process to be aborted and I begin again. Not only am I possessive, but I am particular. I then curl up under the blanket with Mrs. Peeps . There is a reason we have a queen size bed - I may be a svelte ten pounds, but a girl needs her space - I get a full third, if not half, of the bed (as is only fair, in my estimation, being the most important individual on the bed). I sleep under the covers for about half the night, then I may do a nighttime patrol of the perimeter, and possibly stop for a wee snack, and I return back to bed.

Since Mrs. Peeps is my nighttime gal, I return to sleep with her, this time on top of the covers, usually on whatever body part is poking up. Last night, I was a tad chilly and wanted back under the covers, but Mrs. Peeps would not wake up to lift the covers for me (heaven forfend that I should have to burrow under the covers myself like a normal cat). Try and try as I might, lightly scritching her head, pulling upwards on her chin, purring like a reveille bugler on crack, I just could not wake her. I had to settle in ON her head. Yes, on her head. Remember, how your mother told you to wear your hat in the winter because all the cold escapes from your head? It's true. And I was a bit chilly, so it was a good place to warm up. (Actually, it was surprisingly comfy, for me anyway, although I don't know that Mrs. Peeps was too impressed; serves her right for not waking up to let the princess in under the covers.)

So, that's me in a nutshell: possessive, particular, princess.
