Non-Koko Knitting Content

Hi folks, Kelly here. My wee beastie Koko needs a bit of a blog break since she bonked her head rather hard in an amazing display of utter klutziness. She'd be embarrassed if I revealed the details of her "accident", so out of respect I won't tell you how she launched herself like a rocket head first at the bottom of the desk. She's fine, don't you worry, but she's concentrating on napping and resting her pretty, but likely very sore, head.

So today, boys and girls, we are going to discuss knitting. Because that is what I have been up to when I haven't been (mostly) ignoring work (while I went to Winnipeg), stressing about work, or well, working.

This week I have two finished objects -- FOs as they are known in knitter lingo! The first I can't show you - YET! Ha ha, you have to wait for Christmas! But it involves red and white yarn, a reluctant model and shame in perpetuity. The second I shouldn't show you because it also involves a reluctant (and now likely very irate) model, but nevertheless I will risk it to show you my very first knitted apparel item: the Maid Marion vest. It was supposed to be for me, however, despite following the instructions explicitly, my fatal error in judgement was relying on the miracle of blocking to make this fit. It did however, fit my mother very well, lucky for her and unlucky for me. So, without further ado, I bring you Maid Marion!

On Wednesday, I went to the Knitting Meet-up at Yonge & Davisville, which was great fun and I met a couple of new people who I hope I will see again! I started a Christmas project which cannot be revealed at this point but which uses the remainder of the beautiful hand-spun purple yarn from which I had previously made mittens.

On Thursday, I went to the SnB at AlterKnits, the new knitting cafe at St. Clair & Oakwood, and Michelle, Meredith, Yvette (and Leah!) and I merrily knitted the evening away. When we weren't purchasing yarn, that is! Heh, heh, heh. I may have finished two projects this week, but I bought yarn for a "few" more! The verdict is in - very nice place: roomy, with lots of tables and chairs, good food, large cups of tea, lots of yarn and patterns, and very nice people running the place.

Both days I almost didn't go knitting at the last minute because I was busy at work and scrambling to leave, and by the time I left I wasn't in the mood, but once I got there I had a great time and was really glad I hadn't just gone home instead! I tell you, knitting is good therapy (not cheap therapy, mind you).

But the best therapy really involves tequila. And nothing says tequila quite like margarita. What better way to end a snowy week then to head to your local Mexican haunt and imbibe like there's no tomorrow! To keep to the knitting theme of today's post, I will admit that I may have discussed knitting, proudly displayed my first scarf made of Noro Kureyon ("a little bit of Japanese nature") and fondled my two new balls of Noro from which I intend to make matching mittens. If only I had had knitting needles with me, it would have been the perfect ending to the week.

Ole!

Woot, woot! I have no idea what that means, but all the kids are saying it.
Both your mom and the vest are lovely. Way to go.
I also completely understand the therapy tie in.

WOW you have come along way since we discussed how to hold the needles. Very sharp vest and Grandma Mrs. Peeps is looking very attractive as well. Maybe you could knit another and keep me in mind.
