Yes. I do enjoy a "pink lady". So before I continue with the actual intended content of this post, let me just distract you momentarily and put you in the mood...
Pink Lady:
The traditional version circa 1931 is a cocktail made of gin, brandy, lemon juice, grenadine and white of egg shaken with ice and strained.
Golly. That's a lot of effort...
Another variant is white rum, creme de cassis, orange juice and lemon juice.
This particular variation was made of gin, and...um...some other stuff. Let's just say it passed muster and leave it at that...(To be honest, by the time the pink ladies arrived, so much gin had been consumed, this could have in fact been spiked Pepto Bismal...actually that might explain why one felt so great...never mind.)
In a pinch, Baja Rosa Tequila Cream works pretty well too! All the colour, with none of the fuss.
What has all this to do with the following? To be honest, not much. It's just free association, pink ribbon, pink lady, pink drinks, pink elephants. In my mind it's inextricably pinked, ahem, linked.
Anyhoo, about that pink ribbon. So this weekend -- a beautiful, sunny weekend, with plenty to do, fireworks, jazz, Canada day celebrations, probably something FIFA or another -- was spent indoors. It was serious knitting on a mission, and viola, this summer tank top in Crystal Palace Deco Ribbon is actually complete and -- miracle of miracles, gasp -- in the actual season in which it could and should be (and was) worn! There's even enough ribbon left over to make a Miss Koko sized-version, since even the miracle of blocking won't make this even remotely fit one 9 1/2 lb cat. Despite extensive efforts in this regard.
