A Tale of Yarn and a Cat
Once upon a time there was a cat. She lived simply for many years with her two peeps, her ducky, and a few odds and ends.
Then one day, one of her peeps discovered "yarn". Soon, yarn began infiltrating the house, not only taking over every little nook and cranny but much of the time of the string-obsessed-peep who began spending every spare minute with it -- looking at it, winding it, documenting it, touching it, knitting it, loving it.
The cat began to get worried. "What about me? Where do I fit in? What if there's no love left for me?" The cat realized she would have to either make friends with the yarn, or seem to make friends with the yarn, or vanquish the yarn, or something, or she would be quickly displaced. She needed a plan. So she sat on the window ledge and thought and thought and thought.
Oh look, there's a bird!
Sadly, she was easily distracted. And her master plan devolved quickly into intense napping.
The yarn continued its onslaught and the yarn cakes multiplied. And still the cat slept, warm in a sunbeam, ignorant of the tremendous forces moving around her.
To be continued.
